This Privacy Policy details how we collect, use, store, and protect your information, emphasizing our commitment to Privacy-by-Design and transparency in our spiritual community. By using Selah, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
1. Data Collection: Essential Elements
We collect only the information necessary to provide a personalized, data-driven spiritual experience.
1.1 Account and Identity Information
Your email address and a self-selected username. This is used for secure authentication and cross-device synchronization.
1.2 User-Generated Content
- Community Testimonies: Content you explicitly choose to set as “Public” to share with the Selah community.
- Prayer House Requests: Requests shared within private, code-protected groups.
1.3 Spiritual Growth Metrics
Data generated by the Prayer Tracker, including your prayer streak (Candle of Faith), session durations, and frequency.

We utilize your data to deliver Selah’s core mission of consistency and connection.

3. Privacy & Anonymity Controls
- Public vs. Private Settings: All testimonies are private by default. You must take an explicit action to make a testimony “Public.”
- Prayer House Anonymity: When a group member interacts with your request (pressing “Amen”), you receive a notification stating, “Someone prayed for you.” No identifying information about the intercessor is shared, preserving the focus on the spiritual act.
- Data Minimization: We only process the minimum data required to provide the core Selah features.
4. Data Storage, Security, and Processing
- Security: We implement AES-256 encryption at rest and secure TLS/SSL protocols for data in transit.
- Retention: Upon account deletion, all personal identifiers and user content are purged from our active databases within 30 days.
- Device Permissions (iOS/Android): Selah requests access to your Camera and Photo Library solely for optional profile photo selection, and Notification permissions to deliver prayer reminders you have opted into. These permissions can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
Selah does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for cross-app or cross-website tracking, and we do not share data with data brokers.

Regardless of your location, Selah grants you:
- The Right to Access: Request a copy of your stored spiritual records.
- The Right to Deletion: Permanently erase your account and all associated data.
- The Right to Data Portability: Request your prayer data in a portable format.
7. Account Deletion & Data Export
In accordance with Apple App Store requirements and GDPR, Selah provides a direct in-app method to delete your account and to export your personal data.
7.1 How to Delete Your Account (In-App)
- Open the Selah app and navigate to the Profile screen.
- Select the Account Management section and tap Delete Account.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
- Your account and all associated data are permanently erased immediately; this action is irreversible.
7.2 Data Deleted Upon Account Removal
- Profile information (name, email, profile photo)
- Prayer requests, prayer logs, and reflection records
- Thought entries and AI analysis results
- Prayer House memberships and interactions
- Subscription records and device notification tokens
7.3 Data Export
Before deleting your account, you may use Profile → Export My Data to download a complete JSON archive of your information.
7.4 Alternative Request Method
If you are unable to access the app, you may email support@selah-co.com from the address associated with your account to request deletion or export.
7.5 Subscription Handling
Active subscriptions are automatically cancelled upon account deletion. Refunds for pre-paid periods are governed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store refund policies.
8. Children’s Privacy
Selah is strictly intended for users age 12 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 12. If discovered, such data will be deleted immediately.
9. Updates to This Privacy Policy
As Selah evolves with new features, we may update this policy. Significant changes will be announced via in-app notifications to ensure you remain informed.
